This piece embodies the beginning discovery of my Portuguese culture - “breaking through”. Which I took quite literally with the breaking of the smashed hand painted tiles - an important element within the culture. Along with the hidden inside stain glass windows - another important part of the culture being religion.
The discovery of this side of my culture catapulted the idea of diving into what else makes up a person’s story along the way if just the beginning is this in depth; and to think, I originally thought this part of my story was such a small insignificant part yet, it was just the beginning, the initial breakthrough.
