Reverie

Reverie, 2-D
Reverie
This photographic series focuses on the movement of my body. I have been a dancer for as long as I can remember. I have studied how the body moves through space, and I have disciplined myself to practice and train long hours so there is intentionality in my movement.
I use long exposures to blur the body and capture movement in a still frame. Images are later cropped to better reflect a visual preciseness that mirrors the careful attention that I give to the act of dance. This cropping further extracts the human form and turns it into a dreamy state of liminality that lingers between actuality and dream. The body becomes unrecognizable and transforms into an abstracted image of shapes and movement. This series creates a lyrical daydream that in many ways reflects the idea of isolating in place. My intention was to create an imaginative escape that allows one to detach from the external world, an invitation to explore the shape of one’s internal thoughts.
