“Ark” is a multi-block relief print that resembles Japanese Aizurie prints. In this image, a reed boat rides the wave through a rainstorm. I printed three layers of color. This print links together Noah’s Ark from the bible and the Utnapishtim from the Epic of Gilgamesh.These stories were adopted by many different cultures and reshaped to meet the needs of the people at that time. My intention was to create a print that could transparently be read as Noah’s Ark or Utnapishtim.
